Two national waste and recycling operators in the United States since 2021, first through a delivery partner and now directly: S/4HANA application management, two release upgrades, the move from SAP HEC to AWS, and the fixed asset, revenue recognition, reporting and integration work behind fleets, landfills, truck maintenance and transfer stations.

What we do here

  1. We run S/4HANA for haulers, day to day.

    Basis, ABAP, finance and service delivery management under a managed-service agreement, with monthly security patching and high-priority SAP Notes applied as they land. Taking over from a previous provider means a few weeks of structured knowledge transfer, then full ticket visibility for your own team, so duplicate tickets and guesswork about who is working on what stop.

  2. We keep fixed assets straight.

    Trucks, containers, landfill cells and airspace as assets: transfers between plants, depreciation, capitalisation of repairs, retirement. When the process itself is the problem, a scoped fixed-asset improvement project runs alongside support rather than inside the ticket queue.

  3. We connect the field to finance.

    Route and customer platforms, point-of-sale at transfer stations, procurement networks, account reconciliation, AP automation and the banks talking to SAP through interfaces we build and monitor. Failed jobs are caught by us before the business notices them.

  4. We report the way regions run.

    Regional and plant P&Ls, budget against actual, headcount and capital reporting in SAP Analytics Cloud, with the versions and statistical key figures the regions actually manage by, instead of scheduled PDFs rebuilt in spreadsheets.

  5. We move the landscape to AWS.

    Off SAP HEC after performance, reliability and visibility problems, with a cloned AWS sandbox that cut new-environment provisioning from weeks to under an hour. Where part of the landscape stays with SAP, we build and run the interfaces to it.

  6. We upgrade without stopping the trucks.

    S/4HANA release upgrades rehearsed in the sandbox and run over one weekend: technical upgrade and Fiori embedding done, users back by midday Sunday. The rehearsal is where custom plant-maintenance defects get found, not production.

The result: dependable SAP operations, stronger financial controls, regional reporting the business trusts, and a platform that supports growth and acquisitions instead of slowing them down.

Where SAP landscapes go wrong in waste and recycling

The same four things, at almost every landscape we take over in this sector.

  1. Asset master data maintained plant by plant, so the truck list in SAP and the truck list in the yard disagree.
  2. Interfaces to route, AP and checkout platforms that nobody owns end to end, discovered when a payment run is late.
  3. Hosted SAP with no visibility: performance is a ticket, the console is closed, and the upgrade waits on the provider.
  4. Reporting rebuilt in spreadsheets because the system only schedules PDFs.
