SAP for Manufacturing and Industrial

Legacy SAP modernised and S/4HANA planned around the production calendar, so the plant keeps running while the system moves forward.

Where we have done this

Industrial hardware, chemicals, packaging and electrical-equipment manufacturers in the United States, the Netherlands and Africa: legacy ECC moved from hosting providers to AWS, S/4HANA upgrades and readiness work, statutory finance localisation for three African countries, and the technical support that keeps it all running.

What we do here

  1. We move old ECC systems safely.

A five-terabyte, long-unpatched ECC system on a legacy database moved from a hosting partner to AWS as a proof of concept. Repeated data corruption in the endian conversion was solved by testing on a physical AWS transfer appliance, which cleared the way for the S/4HANA readiness check.

  2. We localise finance for new countries.

Fit-gap analysis, functional specifications and configuration guides for statutory tax in South Africa, Zambia and Ghana, covering FI, SD and MM tax, validated directly with the tax authorities in Ghana and Zambia. Documentation complete enough that the rollout team could build from it.

  3. We prepare for S/4HANA.

Readiness checks, custom code assessment and release upgrades planned around production calendars, not around ours; the upgrade and the support afterwards for an industrial-hardware manufacturer.

  4. We keep the plant running.

Plant Maintenance orders, materials, purchasing and goods receipt supported day to day in the system of record rather than a notebook. Custom plant-maintenance code is tested in the sandbox before an upgrade, because that is where its defects show.

  5. We connect the shop floor to the books.

Industrial data and historian platforms, procurement networks and EDI partners integrated with SAP and monitored, so a goods receipt, a batch and an invoice tell the same story.

  6. We run it afterwards.

Basis, AWS, security patching and monitoring for manufacturers without a full SAP team of their own, in Europe and the United States, through the same engineers who did the migration.

The result: minimal production disruption, reliable SAP operations, clearer financial and operational visibility, and a modern foundation for growth into new markets.

Where SAP landscapes go wrong in manufacturing

The same four things, at almost every landscape we take over in this sector.

  1. ECC systems years behind on patches because the line cannot stop, on a database the vendor no longer wants to support.
  2. Localisation documentation that arrives half-finished, so the rollout team configures tax from guesswork.
  3. Custom code nobody assessed before the upgrade, found by the upgrade.
  4. Maintenance history that lives in a notebook, not in Plant Maintenance.

Signs you need us

If more than one of these is true, it is time to talk.

  • The ECC system is years behind on patches and nobody can stop the line.
  • A new country goes live and the tax configuration is a guess.
  • The upgrade’s custom-code list is longer than the budget.
  • Maintenance history lives in a notebook.

Ask the system before you stop the line

The ETZ AI Platform reads your custom code, configuration and maintenance data and answers in plain language, with SAP-grade authorisation and an audit trail on every action.

  • Runs in your own SAP BTP subaccount. SAP data never transits ETZ.
  • Your SAP authorisations decide what it may see and do, not the AI.
  • Every action lands on an append-only audit record.
